The K.K. Bed & Bath is a
rehabilitation of the Kawamura family's warehouse located on a small,
commercial/residential property in the center of Kapaa Town. Kapaa is
located on the east side of Kauai known as the Coconut Coast. This
structure has been a guesthouse since 1996 when it was totally rebuilt after
Hurricane Iniki's "visit" on September 11,
1992.
Along with this building, the lot contains our 1924 plantation style house
(which is listed on the Hawaii Register of Historic Places) and my grandparent's
former mom-
The K.K. Bed &
Bath, named after him, makes his idea a reality.

There is no daily "maid"
service. I'm a one-person operator and the towels and bed sheets are
changed once every seven days, or less depending on your length of stay.
You'll also help me by emptying your trash daily into the metal rubbish cans
near the outdoor shower.
Only paid guests are allowed on our property
because you'll be sharing the yard with me, my one and five year old nieces and
their parents. Please be aware that you'll have to be as quiet as
possible, especially when returning at night. "This is not a hotel.
This is our home."

Why so cheap?
No
breakfast is served. There is no kitchen for cooking in the room though a
small refrigerator and a microwave are provided. There are lots of
restaurants around
town so you're guaranteed not to go hungry. When you arrive, look for
coupons in the visitor pamphlets and brochures that will give you discounts to
various places.
The room is quite cozy but
for some folks, small.
The
guesthouse was designed to fit in the existing structure and serve simply as a
bedroom with a round table in a sitting area. Still, you'll find the room
comfortable while winding down from a day at the beach and planning for an
evening dinner at one of Kapaa's many restaurants. The unit will
accommodate up to two adults with two children (one child on the bed), or three
adults (one folding mattress is provided).
The K.K. Bed & Bath is situated just off Kuhio Highway, across
the street from a Thai restaurant (that closes at 9 p.m.), a restaurant grill
& bar to the north (till 10 p.m.) and a clothing store on the highway.
So if you're from a very quiet neighborhood, the surrounding sounds may bother
you a little at night even though most of the noise can be blocked by closing
the street-side windows. During the day, of course, you'll be touring the
island.
K.K. Bed & Bath's great location:
2. The Bed & Bath is one block away from Kapaa Beach. Hardly anyone goes to this beach
which provides for quiet, relaxing, uncrowded sunbathing and swimming.
3. You might see the occasional display of a magnificent Kapaa sunrise just a step outside our yard!
4. Eco-sport adventurers will enjoy the bicycle and jogging path along
Kapaa Beach which takes you to some very off-road riding all the way
north to Anahola Beach.
And you can rent bicycles from Kayak Kauai Outbound where you can get a discount on bicycle,
kayak, snorkeling, beach and camping equipment rentals. They also have
guided eco-tours at various spots around the island.

the yard on fire. The unit is also no candles, no incense and no open
flames of any kind.
Please remove footwear
as you enter. You may keep them inside near the door but walk around the
room barefoot. Be sure to use the outdoor shower under the lime tree to
wash off any sand you may have brought back with you from the beach to prevent
